Effective stakeholder engagement is central to our strategic planning and operational success at Danaos Shipping. Our Stakeholder Engagement Policy is designed to build and maintain trust, confidence, and support for our key initiatives by fostering meaningful connections with all parties invested in our activities.
Ongoing Dialogue and Materiality Assessment
We prioritize continuous dialogue with our stakeholders to address their needs and concerns. To ensure our actions align with stakeholder expectations, we conduct regular materiality assessments. These assessments involve stakeholders mapping sustainability issues based on their importance, which informs our strategic priorities and reporting. Each year, we update our assessments to reflect changes in our business and the external environment, incorporating feedback from our customer satisfaction surveys to enhance our communication with this crucial stakeholder group.
Integrated Approach to Sustainability and Risk Management
In 2023, we advanced our sustainability and risk management approach by integrating Double Materiality Assessment with our Risk Management processes. This integration takes into account sector materiality, stakeholder expectations, legal commitments, and strategic alignment, providing a comprehensive understanding of ESG impacts and associated risks.
Customer-Centric Strategy
Our strategy is built on a partnership with our customers, using their needs as a guide for service improvements. Our ‘Customer Added Value Program’ methodology includes KPIs linked to specific focus areas that deliver added value to our customers.
Supplier Screening and ESG Integration
We employ a systematic supplier screening process that evaluates environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects. Our approved suppliers must meet criteria related to financial integrity, legal compliance, reliability, cost, and delivery. For key suppliers, ESG criteria are also considered. Our supplier engagement strategy, initiated in 2022 and focused on scaling up from 2023 to 2025, includes desk assessments and evidence verification to support sustainable procurement.
Seafarer Development and Wellness
Our seafarers are integral to our operations, driving global trade and ensuring vessel efficiency. We recognize the demanding nature of their profession and prioritize their safety, well-being, and career development. Our Crew Development and Wellness Campaign outlines our policies related to their operational roles, career advancement, and welfare.
Annual ESG Report
