At Danaos Shipping, we are committed to maintaining an open, fair, and respectful workplace. Our Grievance Procedure ensures that all employees have the right to raise any work-related concern or complaint and have it addressed promptly and confidentially.
Scope and Purpose
The procedure applies to all Danaos Shipping employees and aims to provide a safe environment where grievances are handled quickly, fairly, and in line with company policies and applicable laws.
What Constitutes a Grievance
A grievance is any work-related complaint, concern, or dissatisfaction — whether about a decision, action, or behavior by management or colleagues — that an employee perceives as unfair, unjust, or inappropriate. This includes issues related to discrimination, harassment, bullying, or other forms of workplace misconduct.
Reporting a Grievance
Employees are encouraged to resolve issues informally whenever possible by discussing them directly with the person concerned or their immediate manager.
If the matter cannot be resolved informally, employees may submit a Formal Grievance using the Grievance Form available on the company’s intranet. Formal grievances may also be submitted anonymously.
Investigation and Resolution
Formal grievances are reviewed by the Grievance Committee, consisting of the HR+T Director, the Internal Audit Director & Compliance Officer, and the Legal Director. The Committee investigates each case thoroughly, maintaining confidentiality and impartiality throughout the process.
If a conflict of interest arises, the relevant Committee member will be replaced by a member of Top Management. The CEO may be approached directly if employees feel their concerns have not been properly addressed.
Outcome and Follow-Up
All findings and recommendations are communicated to Top Management for final decision and appropriate action. Employees involved are informed of the outcome, and follow-up is conducted to ensure the resolution is effective.
All grievance records are securely maintained in compliance with data protection regulations.
